The aluminum trough mounts below your exhaust fan drain opening. As grease exits the fan housing, it drips into the trough where it collects in the welded aluminum tray.
This is a passive collection system. There are no filters to replace, no canisters to swap out, and no chemicals required. The trough simply holds the grease until you drain or clean it during routine maintenance.
The welded aluminum construction is built to withstand outdoor roof conditions including rain, snow, and temperature extremes.
This trough requires a drain tube to connect your exhaust fan housing to the collection tray. The drain tube directs grease flow from the fan into the trough.
You have two options for drain tube installation:
Standard factory tubes like the 778865 or 778868 are OEM parts designed specifically for Loren Cook fan housings. These parts ensure warranty and specification compliance for new construction or projects requiring factory components.
Factory tubes install from inside the fan housing. Installation requires access to the interior of the fan to secure the mounting nut.
The 778TROUGH Retrofit Drain Tube ($60) is designed specifically for use with this aluminum trough. This retrofit option installs entirely from the outside of the fan housing.
The retrofit tube does not require removing the motor, wheel, or internal fan components. It mounts directly to the exterior of the fan housing using a washer and screw assembly.
This trough fits all Loren Cook VCR and ACRU upblast kitchen exhaust fans, both belt drive and direct drive models.
Inspect the trough monthly for grease buildup. When the trough reaches approximately 75% capacity, drain the collected grease according to your local disposal regulations.
Clean the aluminum tray with degreaser as needed to prevent overflow and maintain proper drainage. The welded construction allows for pressure washing during deep cleaning.
