This drain tube connects your Grease Terminator 2 canister to the drain opening on your fan housing. Grease and water flow from the fan through this tube into the canister below, where the system separates grease from water before drainage.

This factory drain tube is designed for new fan installations in controlled factory conditions. If you are replacing a tube on an existing rooftop fan, read this section carefully.

To secure this factory tube, you must tighten a nut from the inside of the fan housing. There is no way to reach that nut without lifting out the entire motor, shaft, and fan wheel. On a grease covered rooftop fan, this is a 2 to 3 hour job.
These factory parts also assume the drain hole is perfectly round and the exact original size. Most drain tubes get replaced because the old one was ripped out or rusted away. When a tube is ripped out, it damages the hole. If your drain hole is enlarged, bent, or has rough edges, this factory tube will not secure tightly.
The 778TERM2 Retrofit Drain Tube installs entirely from outside the fan. No teardown required. Custom snap on washers cover the entire drain opening and screw directly into the fan housing. Works on damaged or oversized holes.
The retrofit tube costs $32 more than this factory part. But if you are paying a technician $75 to $150 per hour, the labor savings on a 2 hour job more than covers the price difference.
This tube fits all Loren Cook VCR series and ACRU series upblast exhaust fans except sizes 180, 195, and 445.

This tube works only with the #778870 Grease Terminator 2 Canister system. It is not compatible with aluminum trough systems. If you have a #778873 trough, see the 778TROUGH Retrofit Drain Tube instead.
